On other models, you'll find additional materials, such as 18k gold and carbon fiber executed in countless ways. At 45.5mm wide, the Hublot Big Bang Ferrari was the first time Hublot materially upgraded its Big Bang case since its initial introduction around 2004. Hublot increased the size 1.5mm, up from 44mm wide, and overall added more masculinity while making it even more modern looking. A design like this is at the heart of a crossroads between two types of aesthetic preferences. There are those who like clean, restrained, classic lines, and there are those who prefer edgy, contemporary, and somewhat intense design. An Hublot, like anything else loud, is bound to call attention to itself, and thus equal parts compliment and complaint.
After leaving Soho House, the group dropped me off back at my hotel. Exhausted, I said my goodbyes to Leonid, Ariel, and Hacik, thanking them for an absolutely one of a kind two days in L.A. I'm sure our paths will cross again soon. Meanwhile, I have some incredible memories (and wristshots) to remind me of how lucky I was to be a guest of aBlogtoWatch.
For the CJ, I'd go with the Kobold Soarway GMT, and the BR line I'd say the Hautlence HL-08; for the TR series, the perfect watch would be the Jaquet Droz GRANDE SECONDE METEORITE (either in white gold or titanium).
Our team has for long been intrigued by the idea of the smartwatch and so we have always been excited to bring you the latest, greatest – and sometimes arguably weird – concepts. The smartwatch is a product with immense potential, even if for the most part we have been seeing more optimistic promises than actual deliveries from the countless minor and major brands who have tried to reinvent the "wearable technology."
Around the world, people are carefully watching news about the protests in Hong Kong. From the popular #OccupyHongKong hashtag and bloggers on the streets to the mainstream press, I think the world is curious to see how Beijing will handle the delicate political situation in China's strongest economic market. Something that is beginning to make itself clear is that the protests in Hong Kong related to free rule will hugely impact on the luxury watch industry, now and going forward.
The new Nomos Lux versions come in three original colors - Sable (aubergine, ref. 942), Ermine (grey, ref. 940), and Cicada (lemon yellow, ref. 941). Unlike the white gold original Nomos Lux, all three 2014 references are offered exclusively in 18k rose gold and the cases have been downsized slightly from the original 40.5 x 35 mm to 38.5 x 34 mm, with the thickness holding at 9 mm.

With the Wellograph, if you want this sort of detail, you are going to your phone. This also underscores a broader category of usage; if I have a choice between using the computer or my phone (say, while at my desk), the computer always wins. For you, of course, that may be reversed, and the phone is your main computing platform of choice.
What strikes me about this new Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Two-Tone release is that the Royal Oak is now once again leading the market’s change. It was the original Royal Oak that created an entire market segment (Sports Luxury) in 1972. It was the Royal Oak that arguably kicked off the giant sports watch craze in the early 90s with the release of the Offshore collection. And it was that very collection that began to literally downsize the trend with last year’s re-release of their 42mm Offshore line, starting what I believe is a reality check and shift towards sensibly sized (and more delicately ornamented) timepieces in the luxury market.
ABTW: Since then, have there been any other grail watches for you?
Flipping the watch over, you have a view of the rear of the movement, which is an ETA 6497-1 manually wound movement. Here again, Tissot resisted the temptation to show off every little piece of the movement. Instead, nicely finished plates cover most of the rear, while still allowing easy visual inspection of the parts that are the most kinetic, especially as you wind the movement up.
>Model: T32 (ref. T32103)
>Would reviewer personally wear it: Yes, but I'd have to change out the strap pretty early on.
>Friend we'd recommend it to first: While this is a good one for aviator watch folks, I think it would be a good one for the collector who is into movements, and wants to pick up a Valanvron.
>Best characteristic of watch: The clean layout combined with a very strong lume showing.
>Worst characteristic of watch: The squeaky strap, for sure.
aBlogtoWatch: What types of watches are popular in your market? What makes Boston a unique place to buy watches?
How much more accurate the watch might be is difficult to define, and frankly, I am not even sure how one would measure that. Since mechanical watches are no longer strictly necessary for accuracy, the watch industry is more interesting in a successful execution of the concept rather than its "real world" implications. I believe that, knowing the brand, the Jaeger-LeCoultre Duomètre à Chronographe is probably more accurate over time with and without the chronograph running as compared to similar watches - albeit if only marginally.
ABTW: What drew you to this particular watch?
A thin, elegant watch with nearly four days of power reserve, two separately adjustable time indications, and two tourbillons exposed on the dial: for most watch manufactures, this would likely be their top novelty piece, but for Arnold & Son, it seems to blend in with the other, highly technical pieces that the brand offers. With its sleek profile and two dials, the Arnold & Son DTE (Double Tourbillon Escapement) is a truly impressive blend of the Swiss manufacture's UTTE ultra-thin tourbillon and its DBG double-balance wheel pieces, bringing together the best of both worlds.
Speaking of movements, the Piaget Altiplano 900P mechanism is produced from 145 parts and features just the time on an off-centered dial. The manually-wound movement has a power reserve of about 48 hours - which is impressive, given the thin nature of the mainspring barrel. When looking at the dial of the Piaget Altiplano 900P, you are really looking at most of the movement itself. Visible is the oscillating balance wheel as part of the regulation system, as well as much of the gear train. You can also see the winding system gears moving as you turn the crown to wind the watch. Thus, not only is the watch incredibly thin, but it offers a delightful view of the movement for those who consider themselves mechanically-inclined voyeurs.
All brands like to celebrate such deals with limited edition pieces dedicated to the occasion and, as one would expect, Hublot tries to cover a wider range by releasing not one but three slightly modified watches. To begin with, there is the Classic Fusion Dallas Cowboys piece in the men's (as seen above) and the ladies' versions, as well as the heftier King Power Dallas Cowboys. Needless to say, they all feature the Dallas Cowboys football team's trademark silver and blue color scheme and a number of smaller details dedicated to the team.
With that said, the Garmin epix is still a smartwatch in the sense that it offers phone notification information and the ability to do simple things like control your phone's music player, etc... What ups the ante for the Garmin epix is really the Garmin Connect IQ app support which can offer cosmetic enhancements like new watch faces as well as additional widgets and data fields. The Garmin epix also sports a color touchscreen - but also has pushers on the sides of the case. This should prove to be a very interesting outdoors watch for a lot of people - with some interesting smartwatch features and an app store. Price of the Garmin epix is 9 - 9.

Now, if you have not heard of the original Geak watch (since what we are looking here is in fact the second version), you are not alone. Created by Shanda, the Geak has been pretty popular within its home country of China. With the Geak II, they are looking to stretch out into the international market, with an APAC-specific Kickstarter-type campaign over on Pozible.
